No Baby Movements Today - 23 Days To Go…
Being a new mum and pregnant for the first time can make you worried over little things, especially when the time is coming closer to the delivery of the baby. You don’t want anything to go wrong. In the last few weeks, a mother is supposed to monitor the baby’s movements. As the baby gets bigger, it has less room to move about in the womb.
I got really scared today because I didn’t feel my baby’s kicks or movements all day, as I used to in earlier days.
Normally my baby starts kicking and moving from the time I get up in the morning, and then in the daytime and also in the evening. But this morning and at the daytime, I didn’t feel anything, which made me worried. Another thought, which made me more scared, was one of my friends lost her baby in 35th week of her pregnancy. She didn’t feel any movements for a day, and when she went to the hospital, doctors said that the baby is no more. The cause of that was, the baby got strangled with the umbilical cord. Back to me, I had to call my doctor and she gave me the following advice.
- Drink a glass of cold water
- Lie on your left/right side for half an hour or so.
- Tap on your stomach, as the baby responds to it
I have tried all that myself, so I hope it will also help the new mums like me. My advice to new mums is that when they are in doubt that their baby is less active or not kicking as much as it used to, don’t hesitate to contact your midwife or doctor. Don’t just sit there and wait, or hope that everything is ok.
